One mans
definition of luck is opportunity and preparedness happening simultaneously.
Experience has prepared me, love continues to inspire me and opportunity is
often there for the making. What good fortune to have gathered for this project
such great musicians as John Oddo, a talented and respectful artist.
On October 2, 1999, our son Marcello was born. His birth opened a flow of love
I never knew was possible. I wrote the song Well Worth Waiting For
for him.
I dedicate this album to my sweet Mom who loved the old songs, to my Pop who
never played an instrument but could swing with the best of them and to Lindas
wonderful dad Tony, who loved Sinatra. I hope you enjoy.
Yours truly,
Marcellos Dad
Reviews
of Lucky To Be Me
Review
by Don Mather on Musicweb.uk
"Carelli ignites the music and lyric with seductive logic and artistry
of jazz... He communicates rewardingly with mood, sound and meaning."
Dr. Herb Wong Jazz Historian
"Carelli sings with modified Sinatra-like speech inflected casualness,
hitting each note and phrase exactly where he aims. Everything he reaches for,
he grasps with resolute care and affection. I never grow tired of Lucky to BE
Me."
Alan Bargebuhr, Cadence Magazine
"...articulate and clear without sacrificing musicality and style. He gives
the lyric the respect it deserves...a wonderful trombonist who can be as gleeful
as Frank Rosolino and as smooth as Tommy Dorsey. Well Worth Waiting For, penned
by Carelli, is a beautiful and touching story about the event of becoming a
parent and welcoming his child to the world."

"Carelli is rarity...a throwback to the day of smart suits, smoky ballrooms
and sweet, sweet swing. Well Worth Waiting For...a modern interpretation of
old-time style...refreshing and definitely worth the wait."

"Although this album is crossing the borders of the cabaret and jazz scene,
the jazz element remains prominent."
